A National Day of Mourning – Together for Victoria – will be held at Rod Laver Arena and surrounds at 11.00am on Sunday 22 February to honour the victims of Victoria’s bushfires and to recognise the courage and tireless efforts of emergency service workers.

It will be hosted by senior ABC journalist Ian Henderson.

Together for Victoria will be televised live on ABC TV, Network Ten, GTV 9, SBS, the Seven Network and Sky News. Radio coverage will be transmitted throughout Australia on 3AW and ABC and streamed on the internet at www.premier.vic.gov.au.

The Sidney Myer Music Bowl will open from 10.00am to the public to view the memorial service live. It will also be screened at Waterfront City, Docklands.

To date, about nine locations have been confirmed in regional and rural Victoria where events will coincide with the televised memorial service in Melbourne. So far, these events will be located in Warragul, Churchill, Yarram, Myrtleford, Beechworth, Bendigo, Pakenham, Diamond Creek, and Yarra Glen.

The location of local community events can be found on a Google map which has been established at www.premier.vic.gov.au. This service enables people to locate an event in their local area.

Together for Victoria is a free, non-ticketed event. People from bushfire-affected communities will be provided seating within Rod Laver Arena. Additional viewing areas will be established in Hisense Arena and the surrounding area.

To ensure seating, it is strongly advised that people affected by the fires who wish to attend the service at Rod Laver Arena register at 1800 136 762 by 12 noon Friday. Relief centres or local recovery centres will be able to assist in registration. Free transport arrangements will be provided for people from bushfire-affected communities as required.

Travel on all metropolitan trains, trams, buses and V/Line services will be free between 9.00am and 3.30pm on Sunday 22 February for people attending the Together for Victoria memorial service.

For more information about Together for Victoria, call Information Victoria on 1800 136 762. For public transport arrangements visit Metlink on www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au for more information, or call 131 638.

Gates at Rod Laver Arena will open at 8.30am on Sunday.

[mood | sympathetic]

Went past a brawl in the middle of Nepean Hwy last night. One of the people was really drunk and was laying into a Lebanese looking person, though he stopped for a bit when we yelled/beeped horns at them.
Shared supper (a tin of tuna) with neighbours hungry cat. I wonder if cats are smart because they eat so much fish?
Poor Viv is still in labour. Looks like it might pop out on brothers B'day.

mnyaaaaa, sleep want much (in other words, I hate early starts on new years :P)
The last weekend has been a long one. Monday saw the commencement of marathon naruto effort. Thankyou crew for patience with finishing a fairly long mission (though was slowed a bit by some ppls talking out of game stuff when GM was trying to describe stuff - GM Smites). More on RP laters :P
Pit fights were interesting, though I can see imbalance in the force unless Cadfael starts winning some more. Spent time bumming at [info]raven2909an discovery the documentary The Gamers. Players take note - things that annoyed the GM in that annoy every GM :P. Also take note, anything amusing the GM is likely to work out well :D. Saw Day the Earth Stood Still with [info]eskiie(her christmas shout) and went quilt shopping. Movie not quite what expected but still pretty awesome. Crashed under [info]raven2909's couch and semi watched Prince Caspian/Snored/Hit with pillows. Finally got home to proper sleep about midnight Tuesday, realised I had not drunk any water since 10am Monday :D
Wed saw newyears celebrations. [info]me_ninjakittywas very kind by not describing my singing :P Amazed by [info]kashiichan</lj>'s awesome voice.

RP stuff under cut:

[mood | Sick again]

Drumming concert was awesome (thankee ninjakitty for coming along). Was a few "odd" performances, including a performance of the really old traditional drumming with lots of chanting and a performance of contemporary drumming that left the whole audience going, wtf?

The other performaces were really good. Was first time I'd seen the group I am learning from perform (they were ones organising the concert) and they are good!!! Also saw the person who first inspired me to want learn taiko years ago (used to work with mum), performing in a group of 5 crazy chicks.

The best bit was the last performance where they got ALL the drummers on stage (guessing about 40, but was crowded) and did a huge piece that incorporated all the other acts. So much pwerty noises (drools). At some points the vibration from all the drums made me wonder if the roof might fall. Ninjakitty grabbed a recording of it, will have to see if I can nab a copy too :).

"The point to claim knowledge, once gained, as owned?
Idea's, jealously hoarded, are lost to the sands of time, to be unearthed by another.
Concepts, coveted by others, draw hostility and may be stolen.
Discoveries sold as scraps for profit, lose that sense from which made it whole.
Better to share freely, so that it may grow, bring greater returns and good will."

Shopping [Oct. 30th, 2007|07:28 pm]
[mood | artistic]

Shopping is an interesting and individualistic thing,

Do you buy as quickly as you can, or take your time to learn more about it at the risk of it being out of stock.
Are you seduced by the packaging, the status, or the quality?
Are you the kind to buy, swap or sell?

Some shoppers tend to go the cheap and nasty, while others prefer to wait for the once in a life time deal.

Heaps more analogies i could go into..

Its all very interestin stuff indeed.

I feel spammy, oh so spammy! [Apr. 9th, 2007|06:27 pm]
[mood | artistic]

Random quiz time coz i feel like it:

If you were offered a job where you had to watch every single anime that has and ever will be made, would you?
What is cuter Meerkats, Squirrels or Otters?
Which of the above would taste nicest in a kebab?
Is a "do not open this box" sign an incentive?
Do you send valentines cards to chocolate?
It is possible to be truly random?
What would you have as a personalised number plate? (if you have one pick another)
Should making lots of paper and then filing it count as carbon sequestration?

Feel free to use this in your own LJ/Blog whatever or not as is your want.
Long live spam!
